Forum activity

Postby doctr-dan on Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:25

Hi all,

I thought I would ask the question in the interest of getting some more action on the forum.

What do you feel that you are getting on other forums that you could not get here?

Im sure many are on other forums, why not post the same here as you are there.

Eventually there will be more banter and there you go activity has increased.

If everyone just keeps not taking any steps then its not getting going to get any better is it.

Just some thoughts.

I try to post on here about whatever I might raise on other forums. It did start to look like I was all over the shop here though so Ive backed off a bit. Id love to see more people posting so I dont feel like such a prat rambling on :(

Lots of good members here and none of the knobs that seem to take over other forums. Would be good to hear more from them :D

Hey Dan,

Your questions make the assumptions that members here actually post on other forums! Maybe we're all just a bunch of forum lurkers  - who knows. I don't tend to visit many web forums - I check out this one, a KTM forum out of the UK (and I stick to the RC8 sub-forum anyhow) and one for my footy club (who are playing like girls lately, so I'm not so keen on them at the moment). I occasionally visit one or two others to pick up on events such as Ride for the Hills and other gossip, but you have to wade through a lot of crap on most of them to find anything worth reading.

I do agree with Sprinter in that other forums tend to be full of knobs rambling on about everything but their bikes and that is one thing I like about this forum. For the most part, this one sticks to the topic - Track Days, Racing, Bike Set up. We don't get people asking for opinions of the best TV to buy, or wondering why other riders don't nod any more or which helmet is the best. (For the record: Loewe, I nod, buy the best you can afford that is comfortable for you).

I also agree that it would be good to hear from more people and this is the last forum I'd want to see disappear from the interweb.

I viewed but didn't comment.
I don't post on here unless it's relevant, unlike the trash you find on other forums.
Better low volume and all relevant than full of trash.

Good post Dan..

If you look at a lot of the threads they have been read quite a bit but not many post..
Thats OK, but a bit more activity would be good.

I'm guilty of not posting much as I have a little bit on my plate and don't get much time - hence looking for someone else to take over.

I think some of it may be that not as many members know each other on here.

With other forums there is regular ride and social activity which in turn bring baniter and a more open atmosphere.

Here we dont have this, not saying we are not friendly but the only people I know on here are from other forums.

Just a thought 8)

Wonder how many times that must've happened to all of us Sprinter? I'm in Melb, but have never met a local from this forum (though I have introduced one or two to it).

Will be trying to do a heap of track days this summer so more than likely will be there.
